2 Warnings From Jesus

Preacher:
Series:
Passage: Matthew 12:38-45

As Jesus’s enemies once again demand him to prove his identity as God’s Messiah, he, in response not only calls them, “a wicked and adulterous generation” [v. 39] and again in verse 45, “a wicked generation” he also gives them 2 warnings designed to help them to turn from their stubborn ways.
And those 2 warnings not only applied to their day, but also applies to our own day because not only does the apostle Peter say we too live in the midst of a “corrupt generation” [Acts 2:40] but so does the apostle Paul who says we live in a “warped and crooked generation” [Phil 2:15].
So, let’s pay close attention to his words to these 2 warnings:
1. Don’t run after miraculous signs since the resurrection is the ultimate sign of Jesus’s identity [vv. 38-42]
2. Don’t settle for mere outward change without inward heart transformation [vv. 43-45]
