For what we preach is not
ourselves, but Jesus Christ
as Lord, and ourselves as
your servants for Jesus’ sake.
2 Corinthians 4:5
The God Who Sets Apart His People for Holy Service
At first glance, Numbers 3 might seem like little more than a list of names, families, and numbers. But Romans 15:4 reminds us that what was written in the past was written to teach us. And this chapter is no exception. Through the responsibilities assigned to the Levites, the redemption of Israel’s firstborn, and the instructions surrounding God’s dwelling place, we learn important lessons about God’s holiness, his gracious redemption, and the attitude with which his people should serve him. This sermon draws out three practical applications for individuals and churches:
- Serve humbly.
- Remember your redemption.
- Worship reverently.
